GOD DETHRONED Explain HELL'S PLEASURE FEST Non-Appearance
August 28, 2005Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED were forced to cancel their appearance at last weekend's Hell's Pleasure Fest in Germany. According to a posting on the group's web site, "First of all, Henke [Henk Zinger, bass] had to stay in Holland cause he had been in hospital after a tooth surgery and wasn't able to do anything without pain. Nevertheless, we still decided to play the festival, so we left with the three of us and our sound engineer. However on the way to the festival, actually close to Erfurt, our van broke down. It was fucking pitchdark and nobody could be reached. We tried to phone the organizer of the fest, but we only had his office number, so nobody picked up. After having some sleep in the van, we got help the next day. Now we're just home. It sucks...
"On behalf of the whole band, I'd like to apologize to all the GOD DETHRONED fans who were there, and to Jens (the organizer) in particular. Though this may sound like a lame excuse, it was totally beyond our control. We sincerely hope everything else went smoothly and hopefully this will never happen again..."
GOD DETHRONED's most recent album, "The Lair of the White Worm", was released last November via Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Into the Lungs of Hell" was recorded at Berno Studios in Malmö, Sweden by Henrik Larsson and was mastered at Franky's Recording Kitchen by Berthus Westerhuis. It marks the group's first release with new members, guitarist Isaac De La Haye (who replaced Jens van der Valk) and bassist Henk "Henke" Zinger (GRINDMINDED).
GOD DETHRONED will be headlining this fall's "International Extreme Music Festival" North American tour. The five-week trek, which is scheduled to begin in September, will include additional appearances by NIGHTRAGE, EPOCH OF UNLIGHT, HELL WITHIN, THINE EYES BLEED, LILITU and MANNTIS.
